Month's delay for B&Q plan?

THE CONTROVERSIAL plan to build a B&Q store at Sovereign Harbour might not be discussed by the council until November.

More than 200 letters have been sent to Eastbourne Borough Council since the proposal was submitted in June. But planners have said their conclusions may not be ready in time for the October meeting of the planning committee.

The application proposes a B&Q warehouse-style store and a business park on two sites off the Pevensey Bay Road. B&Q has estimated the development could create as many as 2,000 jobs but the scheme has attracted fierce criticism from a number of residents, including an anti-B&Q pressure group and the Sovereign Harbour Residents' Association.

Comment : This proposed site was know BEFORE any residents moved in, perhaps this slipped the developers literature?. Also the site is contaminated, so either the residents pay to clean it up or a large developer pays for it, as I do not see why the tax payers should fund any costs involved
