A runaway dustcart smashed into flats at Pevensey Bay this morning causing
structural damage.
At around 10am this morning (June 28) police were called to a single vehicle
collision in Martello Road, opposite Pebble Road in Pevensey Bay.
A police spokesman said: 'The driver of a dust cart had left the vehicle to
assist colleagues and failed to put the handbrake on.
'Subsequently, the vehicle has rolled down the hill, through a garden wall and
into a block of flats, causing substantial structural damage to the building'
Normans Road through to Pevensey Bay remains closed whilst structural supports
are put in place before the vehicle can be removed.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue and Wealden District Council attended the scene.
