Shellfish Leave A Stink

Residents in the Redoubt area have complained about a strong smell wafting from the beach. Thousands of mussels and other shellfish have washed up along the shoreline between the Redoubt Fortress and the Fishermen's Club.

A spokesman for Eastbourne Borough Council said that it was the Environment Agency's responsibility to deal with any items washed up on the beach. A spokeswoman for the Environment Agency said, 'We haven't received any reports or complaints about a smell or that there are a lot of dead shellfish present. 'One of our officers was completing some routine sampling at the beach yesterday and didn't see anything unusual there.
'However, if anyone has any concerns they can call us on 08708 506 506.

'Dead shellfish can sometimes be seen on beaches and often they have died of natural causes so it could be the case here but if anyone has concerns they should call us.'

Note: And this is the same council spending thousand of pounds to attract new visitors, Has the world gone mad ?
