Pevensey Bay (Aerial)

Quote from Eastbourne Borough Council and the Environment Agency

The settlement of Pevensey Bay is built on a shingle ridge between Pevensey Levels and the sea.  The ditches of The Levels are ecologically important for plants and invertebrates. The area is popular with holidaymakers and provides a base for fishing.

The shingle bank retained by groynes provides a low standard of defence. The shoreline is presently retreating and re-nourishment of the beaches is a continual process. The possibility of introducing an enhanced groyne system and increasing the beach levels further is being investigated.
