2005 Beach - News - 9th December

Many of you will have noticed that Sovereign Harbour beach was subject to a considerable amount of erosion during the storms at the end of last week. Shingle that was drawn down the beach has now been pushed back up, but there is still a deficit in the area immediately east of the rocks.

From Tuesday to Friday next week it is our intention to transfer shingle from the southern harbour arm around the harbour and onto the northeast beach. Working hours will be restricted throughout this period from 07:30 to 17:00. All lorry drivers will be instructed to use only the route agreed with Eastbourne Borough Council, reminded to obey speed limits, and to drive slowly and carefully whilst on the beach.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any comments regarding the work as it proceeds.

Best wishes

Ian
