2005 Beach - News - 13th October

Recycling has progressed well, and with no storms thus far there is no need for any work to be undertaken at Sovereign Harbour for now.

Work will be complete at Normans Bay East this evening and we will do one day’s work at Beachlands tomorrow before calling a halt to this particular phase of the works. A day at Beachlands should be sufficient to bolster either end of the area recharged last month and provide a consistent front of crest line throughout.

It is hard to imagine that we will get too much further this autumn without a few storms, so a second recycle operation would be expected either before or after Christmas – possibly both.

On the other hand the met office is forecasting a colder than average winter see
(http://www.metoffice.com/research/seasonal/monthly_forecasts/headline.html) so if this turns out to be the case cold weather usually means less wind and therefore fewer storms.

Only time will tell, and when things change, I will let you know

Best wishes

Ian
