2005 Beach - News - 28th September

As mooted towards the end of the summer, the first recycle operation of the autumn/winter will be starting in October. I currently expect to have three dumptrucks starting work on Monday 3rd October to transport shingle from Cooden to Herbrand Walk fishing station – a phase I expect to last all week.

Approximately a week will also be required to bolster defences at Normans Bay East, so from Monday 10th to Friday 14th October shingle from east of the Wallers Haven outfall will be deposited on the beach to the west of the public toilets.

Thereafter we will continue to Beachlands and Sovereign Harbour. At this time there is not too much that needs doing, but in the intervening period it is likely that the first storms will start to redistribute recently recharged material. How much is done here – or anywhere else for that matter – will depend on what the first few weeks of autumn have in store for us.

I will keep you informed as the works progress, but if you have any comments or queries please feel free to contact me.

Best wishes

Ian
