2006 Beach - News - 3rd March

Work on the current round of recycling finished yesterday, with a bulldozer trying to eradicate remaining ruts from the beach today.
Yesterday also represented the highest tide of the spring equinox and it looks as if cold weather and associated northerly winds will keep any storms at bay until water levels fall again. Spring tides at the end of March are almost as high, and it is not unknown for significant storms to continue in April, May and occasionally June.

Whether we need to undertake a further recycle before summer will depend on the weather in the next few weeks, but I will keep you informed and also let you know when the annual recharge is planned. We hope to have a further 4 or 5 days transferring shingle from Langney round to Sovereign Harbour, but again access to the beach and shingle being in the right place depends on a suitable weather window.

Best wishes

Ian
