Not for the first time changes to our dredging schedule have had to be made at the last minute. We found out late on Friday that inspection/maintenance of Sospan Dau was not going as planned and the earliest she would now be able to sail would be Friday 15th September a further weeks delay.
The vessel has also had a long standing commitment to be at Llanelli before the end of September and with her sailing time gradually being postponed week by week it now means she cannot complete a full recharge at Pevensey before heading for South Wales.
Therefore the two jobs have been reversed. She will now head straight to Llanelli and then return to Pevensey in the first week of October.
I have therefore decided to implement our recycling programme before the recharge. Starting tomorrow we will put the remainder of the Sovereign Harbour stockpile on to the beach as added protection before the main recharge can start. The stockpile should be replenished within a few weeks when shingle from Langney beach is transferred around the harbour by road, an activity that can only start again in October.
On Monday 18th work will transfer to Beachlands for a few days before moving to Normans Bay East and Herbrand Walk.
As ever I will provide updates every few days as work areas change and if you have any questions or comments please dont hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes
Ian
