2007 Beach - News - 23rd March

Most of you will be pleased to know that the Volvos have now finished running shingle along the beach and the road lorries have stopped transferring shingle around the harbour. Two bulldozers will be here next week reprofiling those areas where the crest still needs to be widened.

With one more big spring tide to come on 19th April we can never be sure all recycling has finished for the year. We can but hope.

Dredger Sospan Dau should finish dredging Sovereign Harbour approach channel tomorrow (although this contract is nothing to do with PCDL) and will be back in September to complete this summer’s annual maintenance recharge.

I will circulate more information next week, but this year’s annual public forum will be held on April 11th (14:30 to 19:00) in Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club’s new clubhouse. All residents are invited to attend and informally discuss sea defence issues, so please pass the date and time on to anyone else who may be interested.

Best wishes for a quiet summer

Ian
