2008 Beach - News - 10th January

Continuing rough seas have meant that shingle removed from Langney beach is being replenished by littoral drift from Eastbourne. Consequently, the shingle transfer operation will continue through to Friday afternoon.

The same seas have resulted in erosion particularly in the eastern half of the Bay. Therefore recycling on Monday will start at Normans Bay East and Herbrand Walk before moving to Beachlands and Sovereign Harbour. One bulldozer currently used in the shingle transfer operation will start to reprofile Normans Bay East tonight and tomorrow morning, with two bulldozers being made available from tomorrow afternoon.

With gales forecast to continue well into next week this programme could easily change depending on what happens in the next few days.

Best wishes

Ian
