2008 Beach - News - 15th January

Today looks as though it will provide us the worst weather of the winter so far. Sea area Dover currently has a gale warning for storm force 10 conditions and we are expecting larger than usual waves to accompany today's 15:30 high water. As a result the original plan for recycling works is liable to change almost on an hour by hour basis. Machines are currently working at Cooden transporting beach back to Herbrand Walk. Before high water they will relocate to East Stream to re-supply Normans Bay East. Thereafter depends on what happens over high water today, but with four dumptrucks now available, we will be able to reinforce areas of Beachlands, Normans Bay and Herbrand Walk relatively quickly. A second bulldozer remains at Sovereign Harbour to cover the western end of the frontage, with recycling due here next week.

Since water levels are falling as we move towards neap tides, today should be the worst in this immediate period of bad weather

Best wishes

Ian
