2008 Beach - News - 31st March

With main school holidays to start at the end of this week, we decided to get as much of the remaining work out of the way as possible in the next five days. A final shingle transfer round the harbour started this morning and will continue all week. The small heap of shingle temporarily stored on the beach behind the Langney Martello tower will be removed during that time.

A final few days of recycling will concentrate on Normans Bay East, Beachlands and Sovereign Harbour in that order. Work will start at Beachlands on Wednesday with the final three days split between there and the harbour.

The one activity that will take place next week is that of a small gang going along the beach and checking groynes for loose and unsafe pieces, which they will remove. By necessity this has to be done at low water, and with spring tides over the early part of the week it will maximise the area that can be covered

The 6-10 day forecast currently shows cooler showery weather, so it is hoped this final high spring tide will come and go without any undue alarms.

Best wishes

Ian
