2008 Beach - News - 21st September

The first week of recycling has gone well, and there will be a final half day's work at Beachlands on Monday morning, before all machines will move down to Herbrand Walk and Cooden for the remainder of the week. The following week (29th September to 3rd October) beach will be transported the entire length of the frontage to Sovereign Harbour as described in my least email.

There is still no more firm news on a start date for the annual recharge. Sospan Dau is currently at Hayling Island and will move east along the coast from there. This year's work is slightly complicated in that we have agreed with The Agency to provide small quantities of shingle for both Bulverhythe and Seaford. Being added on to Pevensey work it enables us to provide the material much cheaper than had it been ordered separately - to the benefit of us all as taxpayers. Because of varying water depths at each location, the order of deliveries can only be determined once we know for sure Sospan Dau is on her way to Sussex.

I will continue to provide updates as work progresses in the next couple of weeks.

Best wishes

Ian
